On Thursday, March 12, 2026, Lieutenant Governor Bysiewicz joined students and faculty from the Prosthetics and Orthotics Department at the University of Hartford, along with the So Every BODY Can Move Connecticut coalition, in support of HB 5374 (which includes SEBCM language). Read the full article from We-Ha.com here.

It’s not too late! If you haven’t yet submitted testimony, there is still time!

Your testimony and show of support will help us move this legislation forward.

Our legislators pay attention to public opinion. Join us on Tuesday! We want as many supporters as possible to attend the hearing. We don’t have allotted time for more speakers, but we can show up! In addition, you can submit written testimony supporting the legislation, helpful whether or not you attend in person.

How do I Contact My Legislators ?

To contact your legislators — and ask them to become a sponsor of CT State proposed HB 5374 — go to https://cga.ct.gov/asp/menu/cgafindleg.asp, complete the form, and proceed to the pages for your State Representative and State Senator. To contact them, you may have to send a message using an online form, or you may be able to get their email address.

Sample request:

Dear Senator/Representative _____,

I am a constituent of your district and I support HB 5374, which includes the So Every BODY Can Move proposed law. I have a son/daughter/parent/neighbor/friend with limb loss/limb difference, and I understand the challenges they face using the one prosthetic/orthotic device covered by health insurance. They would enjoy participating more fully in activities with their family/friends/work and community, but cannot because of the limited functionality of the one prosthetic/orthotic device covered by insurance.

Did you know that the one device covered by insurance cannot do everything? Each device is custom-fabricated for the individual and is prohibitively expensive for CT residents to pay out-of-pocket. By remaining active, people with limb loss and limb difference can prevent future injury, chronic illness, and reduce long-term health care expenses.

[Add a personal anecdote, or personal explanation of how you know this person is impacted by limited function or cost of custom devices.]

It is important to me that you show your support for people living with limb loss and limb difference by adding your name as a sponsor of the So Every BODY Can Move legislation, currently included in HB 5374.

Thank you,

[Your name and address]

Public Hearing Held 3/3/26

Our heros! CT residents interviewed by WTNH Channel 3 before testifying at the Insurance and Real Estate Committee’s public hearing for HB 5374 on March 3rd. The language of the Bill includes So Every BODY Can Move Connecticut.

Anyone can submit testimony in support of this bill –– people with limb loss and limb difference, their family, friends, caretakers, healthcare professionals. (Select Hearing Date 3/3/2026)

We had a good turnout — at least 7 people with limb loss–not bad, considering the weather forecast. If you don’t want to miss anything, you can read all the written testimony submitted so far at:
